Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) Titanium Foil

GR5(Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5) is a medium strength (α+β) type biphase titanium alloy containing 6% α stable element Al and 4% β stable element V.

The alloy has excellent comprehensive properties. It has a series of advantages such as excellent corrosion resistance, small density, high specific strength, good toughness and weldability, etc., and has been successfully applied in aerospace, petrochemical, shipbuilding, automobile, medicine and other sectors.

GR5 alloy for a long time working temperature of up to 400°C, in the aviation industry for the manufacture of engine fans and compressor disks and blades, as well as aircraft structure beams, joints and other important bearing components and manufacture of various aerospace fasteners.

High specific strength, the alloy can replace structural steels such as 30CrMnSiA, achieving a reduction in part weight of about 30%. Ti-6Al-4V/Gr5 is an American brand, and TC4 is a Chinese brand based on it.

1. Chemical properties: The alloy is heated below 430°C for a long time to form a very thin and protective oxide film. With the increase of heating temperature, the oxide film thickens, but the protection becomes worse.

2. Mechanical properties. The alloy can be strengthened by heat treatment.

3. Processing performance: the alloy is a typical difficult to process material, its poor thermal conductivity, high chemical activity, small elastic modulus, work hardening is serious, making the cutting speed is low, tool life is short, processing efficiency is low. The alloy is easy to produce burns, ripples and deformation during grinding, and its processing is difficult and costly.

The alloy is usually formed by hot upsetting or warm upsetting, because of its poor thermal conductivity, the heating time should be properly extended than other materials, but it can not cause overheating and overburning.

4. Application: The alloy is widely used in the domestic fastener industry, is the most used titanium alloy grade, products include all kinds of bolts, high lock bolts and a small number of nuts.

Tensile strength within 800~1300MPa, shear strength ≥670MPa, long-term work below 400°C, the need for higher specific strength occasions, it is recommended to choose the alloy. Can produce products including various specifications of bolts, screws, high lock bolts, rivet nail body, washer and so on.
